This painting, like many of my previous works, has a variety of mediums applied to it e.g. sand, glitter, metallic paint.  I love color and a variety of it including fluorescent.  I wanted the pelican to be the center of the viewer’s attention and the colors to draw the viewer back to it. The marsh reeds also had to keep the viewer’s eye in a continuous loop to the focal point by their placement and color.
